At Literacy Alliance, we believe that literacy is the foundation of a thriving community. For over 30 years, we’ve worked to improve literacy in the Chattahoochee Valley, empowering individuals of all ages to unlock their full potential. We invite you to join our mission by volunteering, donating, and sharing our cause. Together, we can help bridge literacy gaps and create a brighter future for our neighbors.
There are many ways to get involved:
- Volunteer your time and skills to support our programs
- Donate to help fund our vital literacy initiatives
- Share our story on social media to raise awareness
- Become a Board Member and help guide our mission
- Nominate a Volunteer of the Year to honor those making a difference
Your involvement can make a lasting impact. Together, we can ensure that everyone in the Chattahoochee Valley has the literacy tools they need to succeed.
Thank you for your interest in joining our team of volunteers! Please complete the online application form in full, and expect to hear from a Literacy Alliance representative within 48 hours.
2023 Volunteer of the Year
Sara Davenport is a paralegal with Waldrep, Mullin & Callahan and is married to Jason Davenport. The couple has two girls that attend St. Anne-Pacelli Catholic School.
Growing up in a family with a librarian as her mother and a father who was an educator, Sara became an avid reader, and later, an advocate for literacy in our area. This is what led her to volunteer with the Kindergarten Readiness program with Literacy Alliance. Sara currently serves her Reading Buddies at Brewer Elementary and is a standing guest reader for both Pre-K classes. Pictured below are her girls and a friend who helped replace the cups that spell out “KINDNESS” on the back gate of Brewer.
